Dorothy Story Gulley, age 86, of Nicholasville, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born May 1, 1933, in Fleming County, a daughter of the late Thomas Allen “Tom” Story and Nettie Florence Johnson Story. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Woodford “Buck” Story and James “Bud” Story, and one sister, Ruby Story Waggoner.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Thomas “Tommy” Gulley, and two sons, Larry Thomas Gulley and Kyle Douglas Gulley.
Dorothy leaves behind eight children, Johnny Lewis (Bonnie) Gulley of Elizaville, Jerry Michael (Donna) Gulley of Georgetown, Rickey Allen (Joyce) Gulley of Lakeland, Florida, Darrell David Gulley of Fleming County, Kevin Newell (Christine) Gulley of Little Hocking, Ohio, Maleia Carol (George) Kinder of Nicholasville, Eric Keith Gulley of Louisville, and Donna Lynn Harris of Nicholasville; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress who was well known for her work. Dorothy was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist Church and a life-long follower
of Jesus.
Dorothy enjoyed cooking, spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending camp meetings. She was also an avid U.K. fan.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2019, at Hutton Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2019, at Hutton Funeral Home 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
