Charles Matthew Lewis, age 58, of Orchard Road, Hillsboro, KY, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Hospice of Hope in Maysville.

Matthew was born June 26, 1966, in Flemingsburg, KY, and is the son of Louella Ratliff Lewis, of Hillsboro, and the late James W. Lewis.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three siblings: Harold Lewis and wife Lynn of Lithia Springs, GA, Billy Lewis of Hillsboro, KY and Barbie Lightner and husband John of Douglasville, GA; five nieces and nephews: Bradley, Andrew, and Brandon Lightner, Daniel Lewis, and Destiny Russell; and seven great nieces and nephews: Levi Russell and Anna, Claire, Maggie, Sam, Brooklyn, Tilly, and Silas Lightner, as well as extended family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Wanda Kay Lewis.

Matthew was passionate about his work as a cross-country truck driver. For forty years, he was a valued employee of United Van Lines, Atlas Van Lines, and Clark Transfer.  He especially enjoyed transporting the sets from Broadway Shows in New York to various locations across the country.   Matthew traveled throughout the 48 contiguous United States and Alaska (and often wished for a bridge to Hawaii).  He also drove in Canada and Mexico.  Matthew was a skilled woodworker, enjoyed farming, raising tobacco and hay, and all kinds of animals.  He will be lovingly remembered by his family.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Hutton Funeral Home with Brother Gerald Saunders officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation for Matthew Lewis is from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
