James Ora "Jimmy" Stewart, Jr.

James Ora “Jimmy” Stewart, Jr., age 60, of Lower Licking Road, Morehead, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 10, 2026, at his residence.

Born June 15, 1966, in Seattle, Washington, he was a son of the late James Ora Stewart and Margaret Rosina Tankersley Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Stewart, and a nephew, Charles “Charlie” Stewart.

Jimmy is survived by one son, James Michael Stewart (Alexis) of Mt. Sterling; two daughters, Ashlee Stewart (Cody Brierley) of Flemingsburg and Destini Stewart (Cameron Chambers) of Crestwood, Kentucky; four stepsons, Jared Stewart (Ashton) of Maysville, and Derrick Burton, Johnathon Burton, and Dalton Burton, all of Hillsboro; and one granddaughter, Summer Harmon.

Also surviving are three brothers, Chris Stewart and Greg Stewart (Tonya), both of Fleming County, and Chad Stewart of Iowa; one sister, Shearl Stewart Burke (Gale) of Goddard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with other extended family members and friends.

A 1984 graduate of Bath County High School, Jimmy proudly served four years in the United States Navy. He began his working career in the late 1980s alongside his father, working on power lines and trimming trees for many years. He also worked in farming and manufacturing.

Jimmy enjoyed watching UK basketball and the Cincinnati Reds, gardening, caring for his flowers, riding horses, and fishing. He loved to dance, listen to music, share a good joke, and enjoy a beer with friends. He also liked watching westerns, MASH, and Star Trek. Above all, Jimmy loved his family, as well as his dear friend Martha and her boys. His unique personality, sense of humor, and love for those around him will be fondly remembered, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2026, at Hutton Funeral Home with Brother James Hickerson and Dr. Brian Rau officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chris Stewart, Greg Stewart, Gale Burke, Donald Humphries, Josh Hawkins, and David Tuttle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jared Stewart, Derrick Burton, Johnathon Burton, Dalton Burton, Chad Stewart, Greg Hamilton, Clayton Willoughby, and Cody Brierley.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
