Charles Franklin Prewitt, age 88, of Flag Branch Road, Hillsboro, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born September 22, 1937, in Elliott County, he was a son of the late Vincel Prewitt and Hazel Lewis Prewitt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ethel Wagoner Prewitt, on October 14, 1998; one daughter, Carol Jean McClurg; three sisters, Gladys Clevenger, Laura Manuel, and Carolyn Sue Poindexter; and two brothers, Dale Prewitt and Dean Prewitt.
Charles is survived by one son, Greg Prewitt and wife Sharon of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Kenneth McClurg, Kelly Marie McClurg, and Jonathan Charles Prewitt; three brothers, Bill Prewitt, David Prewitt, and Mosie Prewitt, Jr., all of Sandy Hook; and four sisters, Lillian Joyce Clevenger of North Carolina, Mary Ann Howard of Morehead, Linda Ruth Massingille of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Pamela Prewitt of Indiana. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
Charles was a retired carpenter for Judy Construction in Cynthiana. He was a member of Upper Dry Creek Church of God. He enjoyed farming and building on his farm, even constructing his own home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Hutton Funeral Home with Brother Herbert D. Lewis and Brother Willie Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joe Jones, Jimmy Skaggs, Randy Wagoner, Kenneth McClurg, Jr., Lee Pennington, and Ryan Massingille.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Prewitt, Jackie Poindexter, Ray Massingille, Brent Howard, Ray Donahue, Gordon Donahue, Jamie Prewitt, Rick Wagoner, Carl Black, and Bobby Wagoner.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2026, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
