Clarence Wallace Obituary

Clarence Wallace, 78, of Mt. Sterling, entered his Heavenly home on Monday, August 11, 2025, at his residence. Born December 7, 1946, at Sharkey in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Ernest Wallace and Eula Frances Black, and was raised by his late Uncle Sud and Aunt Christine Rawlings.

Clarence was a man of hard work, strong faith, and deep devotion to his family. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. A 1964 graduate of Fleming County High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Morehead State University. He retired as superintendent of operations from Bourbon Limestone in Paris, Kentucky, after dedicating more than 40 years to operating rock quarries across the state.

An avid UK sports fan, Clarence enjoyed working on the farm, breaking horses, cutting hay, and caring for his cattle. He loved traveling and especially treasured spending winters in Melbourne, Florida, where he made special friends. Above all, he lived as a devoted Christian of the Protestant faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years, Bertha Newell Prewitt Wallace, on January 12, 2010; and his sisters, Janice Ruth Paul and Betty Lee Bryan.

Clarence leaves behind his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Scott and Joy Lynn Wallace of Morehead; four sisters, Pauline Ramage of Mt. Victory, Ohio, Imagene Sorrell of Salt Lick, Joyce Lyons of Owingsville, and Sally Brashear of Muncie, Indiana; and his grandson, Cameron Tret Wallace of Georgetown.  Clarence also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

Those who knew Clarence will remember his steady kindness, his willingness to help others, and the joy he found in life’s simple blessings. His life was a testimony of love, loyalty, and faith.
