Donald "Don" Eldridge

Donald “Don” Eldridge, age 87, of Ringos Mills Road, Hillsboro, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at his residence.

Born April 24, 1936, at Sharkey in Rowan County, Don was the son of the late Henry and Maggie Markwell Eldridge.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Judy Smoot Eldridge on May 8, 2017; seven brothers, Ray Eldridge, Russell Eldridge, Virgil Eldridge, Fred Eldridge, and Henry Eldridge, Jr., and infants Willie and Vernon Eldridge; and six sisters, Gladys Michaels, Ruth Purvis, Opal Eldridge, Virginia Henson, and infants Sarah Jane and Maggie Eldridge.

He is survived by one son, Darrin Eldridge and wife Lesia of Hillsboro; several nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends.

Don was a farmer and a retired plumber and electrician. He served in the United States Army and Army Reserves from 1958 to 1964. Don was of the United Baptist Faith and attended church regularly for many years.   

He enjoyed farming, taking care of his cattle, going to church with his nephew Bob, and especially loved spending time with family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Hutton Funeral Home with Brother Gerald Saunders officiating.   Burial will follow in the Eldridge Cemetery.  Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 will provide full military honors and serve as pallbearers.     

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023, at the Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
