Donna Jean Pruitt Call, age 66, of Sunset Road, Hillsboro, KY, went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2024, at Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon, KY as she heard these words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Donna was a beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many.
Born February 24, 1958, in Rogersville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Fenton Pruitt and Rita Davis Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, David Manis; one sister, Tammy Manis; and father and mother-in-law, Jewell D. and Lela Mae Call.
Donna is survived by her husband of 46 years, Stevie Call, and two daughters, Alicia Murray of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Amber Call of Hillsboro, KY.
Other family to cherish her memory include two sisters, Kathy Manis of Rogersville, Tennessee, and Sandra B. Jones of Knoxville, Tennessee; one brother, Perry Manis, Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins from Rogersville, Tennessee; and sister-in-law, Connie (Mike) Honaker of Paris, Kentucky, and daughters, Paige Honaker of Newport, Kentucky, and Brooke Honaker of Raleigh, North Carolina.
She spent her life serving her family in acts both great and small. She also served her community, impacting thousands of lives as a teacher. Donna earned her master’s degree from Morehead State University and believed staunchly in the value of education. She cherished her students in both the special education and elementary programs in the Fleming County school system where she taught 23 years.
Donna loved people in general, hearing and sharing their stories and lives, with a gift for making everyone laugh. She enjoyed going to lunches, bargain hunting, celebrating birthdays and holidays. She had a knack for making occasions more special. She did not know a stranger.
She was an avid animal lover, whether it was her cats and dogs, or animals on the family farm; if an animal crossed her path, she would figure out how to care for it.
But her greatest love was for her family. She was a rock for everyone in her family, from raising two daughters to caring for elderly members of the family, and everyone in between. A day did not go by without her telling her daughters she loved them.
She was a lifelong believer of the Baptist faith and will be so greatly missed by everyone who loved her.
