Elbert Cletis “Dick” Crawford, age 93, passed from this life on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Pioneer Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation in Flemingsburg.
Dick was born November 6, 1929, to the late Lloyd and Mag Adkins Crawford of Grange City. He was the grandson of the late Roe and Arzanna Crawford and the late James and Martha Ann Adkins.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, Dick was preceded in death by his sisters and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Crawford, Glyda Pearl Crawford Johnson, and Thomas C. Johnson, as well as his nephews and niece, John Paul Johnson, Wendell Lloyd Johnson, Carolyn Johnson Calvert and her husband Billy, and Gary Thomas Johnson and his wife Margaret.
He is survived by Wendell’s wife Angela Heitz Johnson, his great nieces and nephew, Amy Johnson Ishmael (Kevin), Kristie Calvert Campbell (C.C.), Wendy Johnson Hargett (Tony), R. T. Johnson (Amecia), Heather Johnson Hitch (Damon), and Ashley Johnson; as well as his great-great nephews and nieces, Jared Ishmael, Sarah Ishmael, Lincoln Hargett, Molly Hargett, Ava Hitch, and Emily Hitch. He is also survived by his cousins Danny Crawford, Nadine Barker, and Jean Downard.
Dick was a veteran of the United States Army and a lifelong farmer. Walking the fields and hills of his Licking River home was one of his greatest pleasures. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023, with Brother Randy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers: R. T. Johnson, Kevin Ishmael, Jared Ishmael, Tony Hargett, C. C. Campbell, Kent Corbin, and Randy Barker. Honorary pallbearers: Danny Crawford and Dick Adams.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
