Elsie Marie Johnson McClanahan, age 79, of Sunset Road, Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Hillsboro.
Born March 25, 1941, in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Francis Stacy Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Tommy” McClanahan; one son, Thomas Lee McClanahan; one sister, Audrey Johnson; and three brothers, Sidney Johnson, Harry Johnson, and Charles Johnson.
Elsie is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Marion Story of Hillsboro; three sisters, Eveline Mayse of Rowan County, Judy McClanahan and Van Donahue, both of Fleming County; five grandchildren, Amanda Maynard, John Story, Candy McClanahan, Dalton McClanahan, and Auston Brierley; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Elsie was a nurse’s aide at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg for 27 years and also helped her husband Tommy care for the Hillsboro Cemetery for several years. She was a longtime member of the Hillsboro Christian Church. Elsie will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Hutton Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers: David Pease, Barry Manning, Bill Story, Tim Vise, Bruce Gillum, and John Story.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
