Eugene Cecil Gallagher

Eugene Cecil Gallagher, age 66, of Spurlock Road, Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020, at U. K. HealthCare in Lexington.

Born August 7, 1953, in Bath County, he was a son of the late Clarence Cecil Gallagher and Frances Delores Ross Gallagher. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Frankie Thomas Gallagher, and a brother-in-law, Rick Helphenstine.

He is survived by his companion of 21 years, Velvet Reed of Hillsboro; four brothers, Clarence Gallagher (Darlene) of Hillsboro, Larry Gallagher and David Gallagher, both of Bath County, and Paul Gallagher (Melissa) of Knott County; five sisters, Elizabeth Helphenstine of Flemingsburg, Verna Garrett (Don) of Alexandria, Indiana, Claudia Carmichael (Ernie) of Maysville, Mary Black of Morehead, and Deborah Roland (William) of Mt. Sterling; several nieces and nephews, and many friends including Tammy Curtis and Rosemary Gallagher.

Eugene was a rock crusher operator for Hanson Aggregates in Flemingsburg.  He enjoyed working, farming, horseback riding, attending auctions, and caring for his dog.

Eugene was a friendly person who never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Hutton Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Engle officiating.  Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Ernie Carmichael, David Gallagher, Billy Campbell, Chris Morris, Estill Pollit, and Chris Tuel. 

Honorary pallbearers:  Pete Reed, Allen Michael Gallagher, Paul Gallagher,  Corbet Roland, and Larry Gallagher.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2020, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
