Hurl Cooper Johnson, age 76, of Upper Rock Lick Road, Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born October 20, 1944, at Poplar Plains, in Fleming County, he was a son of the late Bert and Dora Cooper Johnson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters, Celia Butler, Sidney Johnson, Roscoe Johnson, John Henry Thomas Johnson, Vinton Johnson, Clinton Johnson, and Myrtie Faye Johnson.
Hurl is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wynonia Emmons Johnson; one daughter, Hurline Jarvis and husband Kerry of Olive Hill; and one grandchild, Kerrington Jarvis.
In 2000, Hurl retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation after 28 years of service and was a lifelong “farm boy.” Hurl and Wynonia were baptized together in 1979.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Hutton Funeral Home with Bro. James Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Caudill Cemetery at Sharkey.
Pallbearers will be Kerry Jarvis, Kerrington Jarvis, Roger Emmons, Jimmie Emmons, Vincent Weaver, and James Hickerson.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
