Ivis Pauline Wagoner Skaggs, age 81, of Story Branch Road, Hillsboro, made her way to her Heavenly home on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her children.
Born February 2, 1939, in Elliott County, she was the daughter of Luther and Alice Buckner Wagoner. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Willie Skaggs, Sr., who went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2016. She was also preceded in death by four siblings and one sister-in-law, Patty Wright, Ethel Prewitt, Addie Wagoner, and Bill Wagoner and his wife Betty.
Pauline is survived by three children, James and Alichia Skaggs, Linda and Wendell McCarty, and Willie Jr. and Nell Skaggs, all of Hillsboro; nine grandchildren, Krissy and Jeremiah Logan, J. C. and April Skaggs, Neil McCarty, Brent and Jessica McCarty, Carla Richmond, Justin McCarty, Jessi and Jason Gulley, Jordan and Amanda Skaggs, and Ivy Skaggs; 19 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
Other survivors include her three brothers, Rob (Freida) Wagoner, Ken Wagoner, and Wayne Wagoner, all of Morehead; two brothers-in-law, Charles Prewitt of Hillsboro and Gene Wright of Florida; and one sister-in-law, Fern Wagoner of Hillsboro. Also surviving is her special caregiver of many years, Diane Logan.
Pauline was a born-again Christian and became a charter member of Lower Rock Lick Enterprise Baptist Church in 1980. Pauline retired from Morehead State University and Aramark after more than 20 years of service. After retiring, she enjoyed going to church and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2020, at Hutton Funeral Home with Bro. John Paul Skaggs and her nephew, Bro. Randy Wagoner, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be J. C. Skaggs, Jordan Skaggs, Justin McCarty, Jeremiah Logan, J. J. Logan, Jason Gulley, Brent McCarty, and Neil McCarty.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
