Luwanna Ruth Story Perkins, age 87, of Flemingsburg, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at U. K. HealthCare in Lexington.
Born March 21, 1933, in Hillsboro, she was a daughter of the late Albert Russell Story and Mary Eva Williams Story. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Parker Perkins; an infant daughter, Judy Mae Perkins; two brothers, Oakie Story and Paul Story; three sisters, Helen Denton, Alleda Roberts, and Anna Belle McRoberts; two grandchildren, Amy Perkins and Stephen Spencer; and son-in-law, Kevin Spencer.
Luwanna is survived by two sons, Ferman (Jenny) Perkins of Flemingsburg and William “Bill” (Rhonda) Perkins of Wallingford; one daughter, Marilyn (Nelson) Humphries of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Joseph (Christy) Perkins, Alison (Tim) Manning, Jill (Matthew) Meadows, Andrew Perkins, and Leslie (John) Jackson; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family members and many friends.
She retired from the U.S. Shoe Factory in Flemingsburg and also worked at Crown Sewing Factory. Luwanna was a member of the Hillsboro and Locust Methodist Church and attended the Tilton Methodist Church.
Luwanna loved family dinners, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Hutton Funeral Home with Sister Gail Skaggs officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
